An ascetic wounded by a tiger, and no medicine could heal him

I saw an ascetic on the seashore, wounded by a tiger, and no medicine could heal him.

His illness lingered, yet he continued to thank God, the Almighty, always.

They asked him, “What are you thankful for?”

He replied, “I thank God because I was afflicted with this calamity, not because of any sin I committed.

If I were to die from the intensity of my misery and helplessness because of that dear companion, God,
So that no one would say that I feared, even for a moment, for my soul, I would say: What sin did Your poor servant commit that You are so displeased with him? This is my true worry and sorrow.”
