An astrologer—one of those who claim to read palms and divine the secrets of the heavens—returned home one day to find a stranger sitting intimately with his wife. He flew into a rage, and a great shouting match broke out in the house. A wise man, passing by and learning of the commotion, remarked:
“You claim to know what happens in the farthest reaches of the sky; how is it you do not know what is happening inside your own house?”
The Wisdom
True intelligence begins with silence and self-awareness; one who claims to see the hidden future while remaining blind to his own household is a fool.
Arabic Translation
أحدُ فتاحي الفأل (المُنجمين، من قاريء الكفوفِ والفناجين، والكذابين…الخ) عادَ لمنزلهِ، فرأى رَجلاً غَريباً جالساً مع زوجتهِ (زوجة المُنجم)
فبدأ بالشتم الكلام السيء فأصبحت فِتنةٌ وشَغبٌ في ذلك المنزلِ، فمر حكيمٌ واطلع على ما حدث، وقال
أنتَ (الذي تتحدث عن التنجيم/مَعرفة المُستقبل والمَخفي، وما يدور في الفُلكِ)، اليس كذلك؟
لاتعرف ماذا يحدث في بيتكَ؟
(الحكمة هنا: الكَف/ الصمت عن قول الكذب، خصوصا في علم التنجيم، حيث تتحدث بكل ثقة، وبأنك تعرف كل شيء، في الحقيقة، أنت لا تعرف شيئا، فبيتكَ فيه اسرار كثيرة والمفروض تكون ذكيا في كشفها، ولكنك فشلت في ذلك)

منجّمی به خانه در آمد، یکی مردِ بیگانه را دید با زنِ او به هم نشسته، دشنام و سقط گفت و فتنه و آشوب خاست
صاحبدلی که بر این واقف بود، گفت
تو بر اوجِ فلک چه دانى چیست؟
که ندانى که در سرایت کیست؟
