Gold is extracted from the mine by digging through the rock, and it leaves the miser’s hand with his last breath (after he is buried in the earth).
The wretched/misers neither eat nor enjoy what they possess; they hoard what they have amassed
They say: The hope of survival is better than satiety and enjoyment.
A day will come when the gold will go to an enemy who will enjoy it,
and the miser will go to the grave in humiliation (of course, under the earth) without gold.
The precise meaning: Saadi uses a wonderful pun between (digging through the mine) and (the throes of death/the soul leaving the hand). The miser finds giving up his wealth (giving a little of it to the poor) more difficult than his last breath.
Arabic Translation
يُستخرج الذهب من المنجم بالحفر في الصخرِ، ويخرج من يد البخيل مع أنفاسه الأخيرة (بعد أن يُدفن في الأرض)
البخلاء لا يأكلون ولا يستمتعون بما يملكون، بل يكدسون ما جمعوه
يقولون: أمل البقاء خير من الشبع والتمتع
سيأتي يوم يذهب فيه الذهب إلى عدو يستمتع به
ويذهب البخيل إلى قبره ذليلاً (تحت التراب بالطبع) بلا ذهب
المعنى الدقيق: يستخدم سعدي تورية رائعة بين (الحفر في المنجم) و (سكرة الموت/خروج الروح من اليد)، يجد البخيل التخلي عن ثروته (إعطاء القليل منها للفقراء) أصعب من أنفاسه الأخيرة
