السعيدُ مَن أتعظَ بِقصصِ المَاضين (السَالفينَ)، قَبل أن يُصبح هو قِصةً يَتعظُ بها الآخرونَ
اللصوصُ لا يكفّوا أيديهم عن السرقةِ، إلى أن تُقطع أيديهم
الطائرُ لا يَقتربُ لأكل الحَبِّ
إذا رأى طيراً آخرَ قد سَقط في فخٍ لنفس السببِ
تَعلّمْ من مَصائبِ غَيرِكَ
لئلا يَكونَ مَصابُك دَرساً لغيرِكَ

نیکبختان به حکایت و امثال پیشینیان پند گیرند، زآن پیشتر که پسینیان به واقعهٔ او مثل زنند
دزدان دست کوته نکنند تا دستشان کوته کنند
نرود مرغ سوی دانه فراز
چون دگر مرغ بیند اندر بند
پند گیر از مصائب دگران
تا نگیرند دیگران به تو پند
