Two people endured toil in vain, exerting effort without fruitful result: one who amassed wealth and counted it without benefiting himself or others, and the other who acquired knowledge but did not act upon it (and from whose knowledge no one benefited).
Knowledge is ignorance when you read extensively and learn, but others do not benefit from this knowledge.
You are neither a learned scholar nor a researcher, as the collection of books you have is walked on by four-legged animals

What did this person, devoid of knowledge, do? What knowledge did he acquire? It makes no difference whether he possessed dry wood for firewood or a book. (Paper and dry wood are both usable for firewood, but if he were truly a scholar, there would be a difference between dry wood and a book.)
Arabic Translation
إثنان تَحملا تَعباً بلا نفعٍ، وجُهداً بلا نَتيجةٍ مثمرةٍ: أحدهما من جَمع المال وعدده ولم يستفد منه ولا الأخرين، والآخر من تَعلم العلِم ولم يعمل بهِ (ولم يستفد الناس من علمهِ)
العلِم هو جَهلٍ، عندما تقرأ أكثر وتتعلم
ولم يَستفد الأخرين من هذا العلِم
لم تكن عالماً فقيهاً ولا مُحقِقاً
ومجموعة الكتب التي لديك تسير عليها الحيوانات الرباعية الارجل
ذلكَ الفارغ من العلمِ ماذا فَعل وما هو العلم الذي تَعلمه
فلا فرق بين أن كان لديه خشب يابس للحطب أو كتاب (الورق والخشب اليابس كلاهما ممكن يستخدم للنارفقط، فلو كان عالماً حقا، لكان هناك فرق بين الخشب اليابس، والكتاب)

دو کس رنج بیهوده بردند و سعی بیفایده کردند: یکی آن که اندوخت و نخورد و دیگر آن که آموخت و نکرد
علم چندان که بیشتر خوانی
چون عمل در تو نیست نادانی
نه محقّق بود نه دانشمند
چارپایی بر او کتابی چند
آن تهیمغز را چه علم و خبر
که بر او هیزم است یا دفتر
