It is narrated that there was a tyrant who would forcibly buy firewood from the dervishes at a pittance and then give it away for free to the rich. A kind-hearted man passed by him and said:
“Are you a snake, injecting your venom into the face of everyone you see?
Or are you an owl, destroying every place you set foot in?
If you commit injustice against your subjects (us) (as if you consider it a good deed/giving it away for free to the rich),
It means nothing to God, the Knower of the unseen (who will retaliate against you for your mistreatment of the subjects).
Do not display your power over the people of the earth,
Lest a prayer (against you) ascend to the heavens (to God Almighty).”
The ruler was angered by his words and frowned at him because of that advice, and he paid him no heed.
Then one night, a spark from the kitchen fell on his firewood store, and all his possessions burned down, casting him from his soft bed onto the hot ashes.
It so happened that the same kind-hearted man passed by him again and saw the ruler saying to his companions, “I don’t know where this fire came from that entered my house?” The man immediately replied, “From the (prayers of) the (wounded) hearts of the dervishes.”
Beware of the pain of wounded hearts,
For the wound of the heart brings forth consequences.
Do not harm a heart if you can help it,
For a sigh (from the heart) can overturn a world.
It was written on the crown of Khosrow:
How many long years and extended lives (we have lived in power)
Will pass.” Creation is above our heads on earth (we are buried)
Just as the kingdom came to us, from the hands of others,
Likewise, it will go to other hands.
Arabic Translation
يُحكى أن طاغية كان يشتري الحطب من الدراويش قسراً بثمن زهيد، ثم يوزعه مجاناً على الأغنياء. مرّ به رجل طيب القلب، فقال له
أأنت أفعى تحقن سمّك في وجه كل من تراه؟
أم أنت بومة تُخرب كل موضع تطأه؟
إن ظلمتَ رعيتك (كأنك تحسبه خيراً/توزعه مجاناً على الأغنياء)
فهذا لا يعني شيئاً عند الله، عِالم الغيبِ (الذي سينتقم منك لسوء معاملتك للرعية)
لا تُظهر سلطانك على أهل الأرض
فيصعد عليك دعاء إلى السماء
غضب الحاكم من كلامه، وعبس في وجهه بسبب نصيحته، ولم يُعره اهتماماً
ثم في إحدى الليالي، سقطت شرارة من المطبخ على مخزن الحطب الخاص به، فاحترقت جميع ممتلكاته، وقذفته من فراشه الوثير إلى الرماد الساخن
وحدث أن مرّ به الرجل الطيب القلب نفسه مرة أخرى فرأى الحاكم يقول لأصحابه: “لا أعرف من أين جاءت هذه النار التي دخلت بيتي؟، فأجاب الرجل على الفور: من (صلوات) قلوب الدراويش (المجروحة)
احذر ألم القلوب المجروحة
فجرح القلب يُورث عواقب
لا تؤذِ قلبًا إن استطعتَ مساعدته
فتنهيدة (من القلب) قد تقلب الدنيا
كُتب على تاج كسرى
كم من السنين الطوال والأعمار الطويلة (عشنا في عز)
ستمضي، الخلق فوق رؤوسنا على الأرض (دُفنّا)
كما جاءنا الملك من أيدي غيرنا
كذلك سيؤول إلى أيدي غيرنا

ظالمی را حکایت کنند که هیزمِ درویشان خریدی به حَیف و توانگران را دادی به طَرْح، صاحبدلی بر او گذر کرد و گفت
ماری تو که هر که را ببینی، بزنی
یا بوم که هر کجا نشینی، بکنی
زورت ار پیش میرود با ما
با خداوند غیبدان نرود
زورمندی مکن بر اهلِ زمین
تا دعایی بر آسمان نرود
حاکم از گفتن او برنجید و روی از نصیحتِ او در هم کشید و بر او التفات نکرد، تا شبی که آتشِ مَطبَخ در انبارِ هیزمش افتاد و سایرِ املاکش بسوخت وز بسترِ نرمش به خاکسترِ گرم نشاند، اتّفاقاً همان شخص بر او بگذشت و دیدش که با یاران همیگفت: ندانم این آتش از کجا در سرایِ من افتاد؟ گفت: از دلِ درویشان
حذر کن ز دردِ درونهایِ ریش
که ریشِ درون عاقبت سر کند
به هم بر مَکُن تا توانی دلی
که آهی جهانی به هم بر کند
بر تاجِ کیخسرو نبشته بود:
چه سال هایِ فراوان و عمرهایِ دراز
که خلق بر سرِ ما بر زمین بخواهد رفت
چنان که دست به دست آمدهست مُلک به ما
به دست هایِ دگر هم چنین بخواهد رفت
