The sky bestows rain upon the earth, and the earth gifts dust to the sky; every vessel leaks what it contains.
So if you see in me what is unbecoming,
do not abandon your good character.

السَماءُ تَهبُ الأرضَ مَطراً، والأرضُ تُهدي السماءَ غُباراً؛ فکلُّ اِناءٍ یَتَرشَّحُ بِما فیهِ
فإذا رأيتَ منّي ما لا يَليق
فلا تتخلى عن حُسن خلقكَ

زمین را ز آسمان نثار است و آسمان را از زمین غبار، کلُّ اِناءٍ یَتَرشَّحُ بِما فیهِ
گرت خوی من آمد ناسزاوار
تو خوی نیک خویش از دست مگذار
