A person who wishes to advise kings is acceptable, provided they do not fear losing their head (if the king is angered by the advice and orders their execution) or hope to acquire gold (out of greed for the king’s generosity in obtaining money/gold or silver).
But what about the devout person, no matter how much gold they throw before them or at their feet, or even if they place a sharp Indian sword against their neck?
He has no hope of obtaining anything from anyone, nor does he fear anyone,
for his foundation is strong faith in God, and nothing else.
Arabic Translation
الشخص الذي يريد إبداء النصيحة للملوك لا بأس بها، لمن لا يَخاف فُقدان رأسه (إذا غضب الملك من النصيحة وأمر بقطع رقبتهِ) أو أمل الحصول على الذهب (طمعاً بكرم الملك في الحصول على المال/الذهب أو الفضة)
المتدين، مهما ألقوا أمامه أو تحت قدميه من ذهبٍ
أو وضعوا سيفاً هندياً حاداً على رقبته؟
ليس له أمل في الحصول على شيء من أحدٍ، أو يَخاف من أحد
لأن أساسه الإيمان القوي بألله، ولا غير

نصیحت پادشاهان کردن کسی را مسلم بود که بیم سر ندارد یا امید زر
موحد چه در پای ریزی زرش
چه شمشیر هندی نهی بر سرش
امید و هراسش نباشد ز کس
بر این است بنیاد توحید و بس
