Sin is reprehensible from anyone, but it is even more so from scholars, for knowledge is a weapon to fight Satan, and the one who wields this weapon, if captured, suffers the greatest shame and sorrow.
An ignorant, common, and troubled person (a sinner) is
better than a scholar who does not fear God.
For the ignorant one has lost his way due to the blindness of his insight (he cannot see the path of truth because of his ignorance),
while the scholar, though he had two eyes (he knew the path of truth), still fell into the well (a symbol of falling into forbidden and reprehensible sins).
Arabic Translation
المَعصيةُ مُستهجنةٌ من أيِّ أحدٍ، لكنها من العُلماءِ أقبح؛ لأنَّ العِلم سلاحٌ لمحاربةِ الشيطان، وصاحبُ السلاحِ إذا وقعَ أسيراً كان خَجلهُ وأساهُ أعظم
جاهلٌ عاميٌ مُضطربُ الحالِ (عاصٍ)
خيرٌ من عالِمٍ لا يتقي الله
فالجاهل ضلَّ الطريقَ لعمى بصيرتهِ (لا يرى طريق الحق لجهلهِ) أما العالِم، فكانت له عينانِ (يعرف طريق الحق)، ومع ذلك سقطَ في البئرِ (دلالة على السقوط في المحرمات، والمعاصي المستهجنة)

معصیت از هر که صادر شود ناپسندیده است و از علما ناخوبتر؛ که علم سلاح جنگ شیطان است و خداوندِ سلاح را چون به اسیری برند شرمساری بیش برد
عام نادان پریشان روزگار
به ز دانشمند ناپرهیزگار
کآن به نابینایی از راه اوفتاد
وین دو چشمش بود و در چاه اوفتاد
