I was a child (Saadi) and asked an elder about puberty. He told me: “It is written in books that it has three signs: one is reaching the age of fifteen, another is nocturnal emission, and the third is the growth of pubic hair.”
But in reality, there is only one important sign, which is to be more concerned with pleasing God Almighty than with obtaining your own personal pleasure. Whoever does not possess this quality is not considered an adult by scholars.
A drop of water (semen) became the form of a human being
It remained for forty days, settled in the womb.
(*God alone forms them in the wombs.)
And if a forty-year-old has neither intellect nor manners, then in truth, he does not deserve to be called a human being.
Humanity lies in courage and kindness
Do not think that it is merely this physical being.
It is necessary that virtue should be present within it to form an image (Personality)
Like the gates in arcades, each with its own distinct color, yet each color holds a different meaning.
(Shangar: a red metallic powder of mercury used as a pigment in painting.
Zangar: a dull, dark red color resulting from the oxidation of metals, such as iron; in other words, it is iron rust.)
If a person lacks virtue and kindness,
what is the difference between them and the painting on the wall?
When you want the world to be yours, it’s not difficult (it doesn’t require great knowledge, art)
Only if you know how to win one heart (by your kindness alone)
Arabic Translation
كُنت طِفلاً (سعدي) فَسألتُ كَبيراً عن البلوغِ، فَقالَ لي: جَاء في الكتبِ أن له ثلاثُ علاماتٍ: إحداها بلوغ سنِ الخَامسةَ عشرة، والأخرى الإحتلام، والثالثة نمو الشعرِ
لكن في الحقيقة توجد علامة واحدة فقط مهمة، وهي أن تكون أكثر إهتماماً بِرضا الله جل وعلا، من إهتمامك بالحصول على لذة نفسك الخاصة، ومن لم يكن فيهِ هَذهِ الصِفة لا يُحسب بالغاً عِندَ المُحققين
قَطرة ماءٍ (المَني) أصبحت على صورةِ إنسان
ظَلت أربعينَ يَوماً مُستقرة في الرحم ِ
(*ألله وحده صورهم في الارحام)
وإن كان ابن الأربعينَ عَاماً لا عَقل لهُ ولا أدب
فبحقيقةِ الأمرِ، لا يَستحق أن يُدعى إنسان
الإنسانية في الشجاعةِ واللطفِ
لا تَظن بأنها مُجرد هذا الكائن الجسماني
يَجب أن تكون الفضيلة فيها موجودة لتشكل صورة
كالبوابات في الأروقة التي فيها ألوان مُختلفة، لكن، لكل لَونٍ معنى مختلف
(شنگرف: هو مسحوق معدني أحمر من الزئبق يستخدم كصبغة في الرسم
زنگار: لونًا أحمر داكنًا باهتًا يحدث نتيجة الأكسدة على المعادن (مثل الحديد)، بعبارة أخرى، هو نفسه صدأ الحديد)
إذا لَم يَكن للإنسانِ فَضلٌ وإحسانٌ
فما الفرق بينه وبين رَسم الجدار (الرَسم/الشيء المرسوم، وليس فعل الرسم على الجدار)؟
عندما تريد أن تكون الدنيا لكَ، الأمر ليس صَعباً (لايحتاج الى معرفة كبيرة جدا، فَناً)
فقط إذا عَرفت كَيف تَكسب قَلباً واحداً

طفل بودم که بزرگی را پرسیدم از بلوغ، گفت در مسطور آمده است که سه نشان دارد: یکی پانزده سالگی و دیگر احتلام و سیم بر آمدن موی پیش
اما در حقیقت یک نشان دارد و بس، آن که در بند رضای حق جلّ و علا بیش از آن باشی که در بند حظّ نفس خویش و هر آن که در او این صفت موجود نیست به نزد محققان بالغ نشمارندش
به صورت آدمی شد قطرهٔ آب
که چل روزش قرار اندر رحم ماند
و گر چل ساله را عقل و ادب نیست
به تحقیقش نشاید آدمی خواند
جوانمردی و لطف است آدمیت
همین نقش هیولانی مپندار
هنر باید که صورت می توان کرد
به ایوانها در از شنگرف و زنگار
چو انسان را نباشد فضل و احسان
چه فرق از آدمی تا نقش دیوار
به دست آوردن دنیا هنر نیست
یکی را گر توانی دل به دست آر
