The first to place a mark on a garment and a ring on a hand was Jamshid.
They asked him: Why did you place the ring on your left hand and give virtue to your right?
He replied: The right hand is adorned with truth itself (generosity).
Feridun said to painters from China:
Embroider on my tent a piece of advice:
“Be kind to the wicked, O wise ones,
For the virtuous are honored by their station and fortunate by their virtue.”
The precise meaning: Jamshid placed the ring on his left hand because the right hand needs no adornment; its beauty lies in its truthfulness (rasti means right and also truthfulness).
As for Fereydun’s advice, it is an invitation to be kind to the wicked, as a kind of protection from their evil, because the virtuous are sufficient in their virtue.
Arabic Translation
أول من وضع علامة على الثوبِ، وخاتماً في اليد كان جمشيد
فسألوه: لماذا جعلت الخاتم في يدك اليسرى، وأعطيت الفَضيلة ليدك اليمنى؟
فقال: اليمين مُزينة بالصدق نفسهِ (العطاء)
قال فريدون لرسامين من الصين
طرّزوا على خيمتي نصيحةً
“أحسنوا إلى الأشرار أيها الحكماء
أما الأخيارُ فهم كِرامٌ بمقامِهم ومحظوظون بفضلِهم”
المعنى الدقيق: جمشيد وضع الخاتم في اليسار لأن اليمين لا تحتاج لزينة؛ فجمالها في صدقها (راستی تعني اليمين وتعني الصدق أيضاً).
أما نصيحة فريدون فهي دعوة للإحسان للأشرار (بدان را نیک دار) كنوع من الوقاية من شرهم، لأن الأخيار يكفيهم فضلهم

گفتندش: چرا به چپ دادی و فضیلت راست راست؟
گفت: راست را زینت راستی تمام است
فریدون گفت نقّاشان چین را
كه پیرامون خرگاهش بدوزند
بدان را نیک دار ای مرد هشیار
كه نیكان خود بزرگ و نیکروزند
