Arabized people and Saadi in Baghdad

Someone was asked by some Arabized people (an Arabized person is someone who is not originally Arab but learned Arabic from Arabs) in Baghdad: What do you say about beardless youths? (A beardless youth is a young man whose beard has not yet grown but whose mustache has grown long, whose face is smooth and hairless (clean-cheeked), and the term is used for a boy or young man going through adolescence and early adulthood before facial hair growth is complete.)

He replied to them: There is no good in them as long as one of them is handsome will become rough; and when he is getting old, he becomes kind. That is, as long as he is handsome, kind, and slender, he behaves badly and harshly. When he grows old and feeble, to the point where he is no longer fit for anything, he becomes gentle and his bad behavior disappears.

The beardless youth, when he is handsome and pleasant-looking, is bitter in speech and harsh in temperament.

But when his hair grows thickly and his good qualities vanish (Saadi says: he is cursed/becomes cursed), he becomes sociable and seeks affection.
