Deceptive Appearances (Moses and Pharaoh)

The corrupt rich man is like a piece of clay coated with gold, and the righteous dervish is like a beautiful sight covered with dust (time has taken its toll and diminished much of its beauty).

This dervish is like Moses’ patched robe (ascetic, pure, righteous),
while that corrupt rich man is like Pharaoh’s beard, studded with jewels.

(Of course, the comparison is clear: Pharaoh’s fate was annihilation and a lesson for those who came after him after his drowning, while Moses was a prophet whose great and undeniable impact was profound.)
