Knowledge is acquired to deepen one’s understanding of religion

Knowledge is acquired to deepen one’s understanding of religion (as if you are cultivating your faith through knowledge), not to be learned merely for sustenance.

He who feigns piety, knowledge, and asceticism is as if he amassed all his possessions and then easily squandered them.
