| They asked Luqman the Wise: “From where did you learn wisdom and eloquence?” He replied: “I learned it from ill-mannered people. Whatever I found ugly in them, I avoided and refrained from doing. These ill-mannered people do not speak in jest without the discerning person taking a lesson and a moral from it And if a hundred chapters of wisdom were recited to an ignorant person, they would enter his ears like mere play and amusement.” Arabic Translation قالوا للقمانِ الحَكيمُ: من أين تَعلمتَ (الحِكمة/الأدب في الكلامِ)؟ قال: (تَعلمتُ ذلك من الأشخاصِ عديمي الأدب)، فكلّ ما رأيته منهم قبيحًا في نظري، أجتنبته وتركت فعله (هؤلاء العديمي الأدب) لا يقولون كلامًا على سبيل اللعبِ والمزاحِ إلا ويأخذ منهُ صاحب العقلِ (العاقل) عِبرةٌ وعِظةٌ وإن قُرِئت ( قرأوا عليه) على الجاهلِ مائة بابٍ من الحكمةِ فإنها تدخل أذنَيه كاللعب واللهو Persian text لقمان را گفتند: ادب از که آموختی؟ گفت: از بی ادبان؛ هر چه از ایشان در نظرم ناپسند آمد از فعلِ آن پرهیز کردم نگویند از سر بازیچه حرفی کز آن پندی نگیرد صاحبِ هوش و گر صد بابِ حکمت پیشِ نادان بخوانند، آیدش بازیچه در گوش |
