English Translation

I beg of you, my beloved, where are you away from my paths?

I beg of you, my beloved, where are you away from my paths? Come closer, come!

I need you, my joy, to be with me; I need you in my sorrow and my bliss.

You are all that I desire, my everything! I beg of you, my beloved!

In your vast sea, my own waves have rebelled against me,

dragging me to your very depths as a willing captive;

while I hold my breath, believing that I shall embrace the clouds and fly high.

Come closer, come! My suffering is enough.

Come, for none other than you holds my very soul.

In love, I shield and tend to my nights and my days,

finding my lifespan, my love, and my burning fire.

And I find you, O full moon of the North, coming towards me,

with your eyelashes appearing as a delicate crescent moon to me.

I imagine it as a warm sun, pulling me away from the coldness of the nights,

where all whispers cease, and I find you in my thoughts, my mind, my sunrise, and my sunset.

Explaining:

“وينك عن دروبي?”: A call and a question brimming with yearning, the lover wonders why their partner is absent, having vanished from the life paths and days that have grown dark in their wake.

“قرب تعال”: A heartfelt, direct plea for nearness and union—to end the suffering of separation and quench the burning fires of longing.

“أبيك في همي وهناي”: A request for total emotional partnership through thick and thin; the beloved is not merely for moments of bliss, but serves as a sanctuary and refuge during times of distress and worry.

“في بحرك أمواجي عصتني، تأخذني لأعماقك أسير”: A stunning rhetorical and philosophical image; love is likened to a “deep sea” where the waves of one’s own will struggle until they falter and surrender, leading the lover—fully willing—to become a captive bound at the very bottom of their beloved’s love.

“بعانق الغيمة وأطير”: A striking, surreal contrast between the depths and the sky; despite surrendering and sinking into the ocean’s abyss, this emotional captivity grants the lover an overwhelming spiritual energy, allowing them to soar through the heavens and embrace the clouds.

“في الحب أداري ليلي ونهاري”: A state of discretion and concealment; keeping longing private, shielding it from prying eyes, and constantly tending the embers of passion so the flame stays alive through winter and summer, night and day.

“بدر الشمال… ورمشك لي هلال”: A rare and exquisite romantic simile; the beloved’s face is likened to the brilliant “full moon of the North” shining high in the firmament, while the curve of their eyelash and eyelid is likened to the delicate, luminous “crescent moon” that dispels the chill of lonely nights and guides the lost.

The song “Arjook Mahboubi” (I Beg You, My Beloved) presents a philosophy of sweet surrender to love and the soul finding refuge in the radiance of one’s partner. It steers clear of the bitter uncertainty and sleeplessness found in works like “Lahzat” (Moments) or the anguish of parting in “Allah Ye’een” (Allah Help Me), offering instead a voice brimming with pure hope and poetic supplication. Here, love is not a dark shackle but a sea of light; its waves carry the lover into the depths, where the chill of the night dissolves upon the appearance of the “Northern Full Moon”—a presence that bestows warmth and security, transforming whispers into eternal melodies.
