English Translation
It wasn’t peaceful sleep that made your weight palpable, but rather your inherent dignity, instilled since childhood, that anchored your cradle.
Saib creates a “strange meaning” by linking the psychological state (dignity) to the physical act (the weight of the cradle), and the poet affirms that the beloved’s greatness is intrinsic and natural, requiring no external manifestations to appear
And the flame will fall from your shy face like dripping wax; and this light is enough to ignite the extinguished lamps beside your bed
Using the “equation method”; Where Saïb transforms the “blush of shyness” into a physical, luminous energy, proving that the beloved’s beauty is so alive that it breathes life into inanimate objects (Cheragh Kushteh: The extinguished lamp)
So you are not a beginner in the arts of coquetry like the rest of those captivated by beauty; Your deep sleep was heavy with dignity, even in the cradle of eternity.
It elevates the beloved to an eternal rank, where grace (Naz) is not a learned art, but an ancient quality predating creation, making his beauty beyond imitation.
How can beauties rival your gait? And you, whose wooden horse (reed horse) in your childhood used to run like a flash of lightning
The technique of “embodying meanings”; Where he transforms a simple children’s game into a kinetic legend, and Sa’ib believes that everything the beloved touches acquires supernatural qualities.
Before the bud could be nourished and revived by absorbing the nightingale’s (lover’s) blood, as a newborn is nourished by frequent nursing, your hand was stained and colored with our blood from the very beginning in the cradle.
“Breaking the familiar” in the image of love, for while roses kill the nightingale in traditional poetry, Sa’ib makes the beloved a “killer” of lovers from the very beginning, for being killed by beauty is an inevitable fate from which there is no escape.
In your youth, your dignified bearing was like a teacher’s, reining in the recklessness of other children.
Sa’ib establishes the position of empowerment; Spiritual composure in the beloved is the model and standard for the universe.
Even if they scattered withered flowers on your bed, they would transform into fresh, vibrant blooms by morning when you awaken.
The paradox of “revival.” For withering is transformed into life by mere proximity to the Beloved; this points to the abundance of existence that springs from the Essence of Truth.
Flowers can be plucked from your stature while you are mounted on your steed, your ride makes you appear like an elegant bouquet of flowers.
A beautiful geometric image that connects the tangible and the abstract, so Saïb sees the beloved as a “moving garden,” where every movement produces a beauty ripe for spiritual harvest.
If others are drawn to the sweetness of speech, then it is the harshness of your words that makes you even sweeter in their eyes of the world.
This is the “praised contradiction,” where the “bitterness” of the majesty of truth is transformed into the “sweetness” of witnessing in the heart of the knower, and harshness here is a temptation that seduces hearts thirsting for truth.
What giant could possibly pull the string of this bow? Even the strongest wine could not erase the frown from your brow.
The beloved’s true nature is depicted in the realm of “self-sufficiency,” so even wine (a symbol of ecstasy and liberation) cannot diminish the sharpness of the “majesty” inscribed upon his brow.
And if the ruby wine had made you glow thus, the blood of envy would have burst forth from the sun’s own eye.
An exaggeration. “The Unity of Beauty,” where Saïb proves that the beloved’s radiance defies the cosmic sources of light, transforming the sun’s brilliance into tears of heartbreak.
For the true metal that which sharpens itself, then how naive is he who thinks he is teaching you cruelty, for it is an inherent quality within you, not a mere attribute.
This is an affirmation of “pure subjectivity,” for Sa’ib sees that all the qualities of the Beloved (including purifying cruelty) emanate from His divine essence, and there is no way to change them through human instruction.
And your face when sleeping is more radiant than it is when you are awake, and the candle’s tears beside you are not tears of pain, but tears of joy at that smile.
He reverses the poetic function of the candle, for if the candle usually weeps from burning, here it weeps “longing” before the beloved’s secret revealed in his sleep.
Dust cannot restrain the lightning’s fury, then how can that fine hair (the fine lines) possibly offer solace to the magnificence of your beauty?
Transforming “the fine lines/hair” into a symbol of helplessness before “the flash of lightning” is a true testament to the fact that absolute beauty is a fire that no veil can extinguish.
And indeed, it is the injustice of others that draws the arrows of fate from their quiver. Do not even wound the heart of an ant, if you possess even an atom of faith.
This is an invocation of the ant’s symbolism in the scales of wisdom. Sa’ib connects “morality” and “destiny,” warning that the slightest harm to God’s creation tears the veil of faith (religion).
The garden of your beauty is wondrous, for its blossoms increase with every flower picked from it. How could the rose-picker return empty-handed from You?
“The paradox of divine abundance”—this embodies the meaning of “nothing is diminished from His dominion”; for manifestation is a perpetual outpouring that increases with devotion.
So do not grieve, O Saeb, if they do not praise you with their tongues; It suffices that people of understanding and knowledge listen to you, and this is enough; this was the greatest praise for you.
Saib elevates the value of “refined silence,” and in the “new style,” “listening” becomes the station of acknowledging greatness, because strange meanings leave tongues tied in astonishment.
And do not be saddened by the coldness of your peers; for as long as the Great Sultan (or the beloved) praises you, so the opinion of anyone else is worthless.
Saib resorts to the station of “self-sufficiency from creation,” and “Sahib-Qiran” is a symbol of the divine power that grants the poet his immortality, affirming that the lasting “work” is what judges you fairly.
Sufi and Gnostic Meanings
In this love poem, Saïb establishes the “innate nature of manifestation”; He sees that the Truth, may He be glorified, is established in His beauty since the “cradle of eternity,” and “Talkhgu’i” (apparent harshness) is a mystical education for purifying the naiveté of the soul (Sadeh Lawhi), as he calls for “nurturing hearts” (even the heart of an ant) as a condition for the perfection of the spiritual drink.
Ghazal is a celebration of the “sovereignty of authentic beauty,” and he sees It is true that the beloved does not need someone to teach him the magic of influence, for it is an innate quality, like the sharpness of a sword. This is a hymn of “confidence in the eloquent conquest,” where the poet considers “listening” to his poetry the highest form of affirming truth.
