Tyrannical king asked an ascetic

One of the tyrannical kings asked an ascetic:
“Which act of worship is best?”
He replied: “For you, it is taking a nap at midday (afternoon), so that you do not harm people, not even with a single breath.”

I saw a tyrant who had fallen asleep at midday,
So I said: “This source of mischief has been momentarily distracted (the people have found some respite from him), and that is good.”

And whoever’s sleep is better than his wakefulness (distracting oneself with other things is better than focusing on inflicting injustice on others),
What a miserable life he leads! His death would be better for him (so that people can be rid of his evil).
